Your Ceremony …
Your wedding ceremony comes to life in a co-creative process, led by me, that is dynamic and filled with insight and ease.
The end result is a heartfelt and personal ceremony that reflects your unique connection and includes your hopes for the future. The journey we take together from the time we meet to your wedding day insures that we capture the intimacy and meaning of this important milestone to be shared with your most precious friends and family.
STEP ONE: We meet to begin to get to know each other and explore your thoughts, ideas, expectations and questions regarding your ceremony. I share my background and process, as well as show you some of the ceremonies I have written so that you can get a sense of my work. If you choose me as your officiant, then I ask for a small deposit to hold the date. We schedule a second meeting where we begin to develop the ceremony.
STEP TWO: We meet for approximately 2 hours, more or less. I want to understand who you are as individuals and as a couple - we begin that conversation with the day you met through your engagement that includes your hopes in marriage and it’s potential to expand who you are as individuals and as a couple. Additionally, I learn everything about your families, friends and anything else you feel is significant to capture in the ceremony. We discuss whether or not to consider including readings or ritual based on their potential to punctuate your connection, prior to taking your vows and exchanging rings. We discuss your VOWS. I have guided countless couples to write their own that are always touching and beautiful or I can write personalized vows for you or we can execute vows that are consistent with your tradition or religion.
STEP THREE: I write a first draft of your ceremony and together we refine it until we all feel it is complete and a true reflection of who you are and worthy of sharing on your wedding day. We finalize all logistics, including your wedding license, my attire, your music, rehearsal, audio, etc.
STEP FOUR: I arrive on your wedding day at least one hour prior to the start of your ceremony. I connect with all relevant vendors and banquet managers as well as meet anyone else who might be participating in the ceremony. Once I have married you, before your reception, your witnesses sign the marriage license and I receive my balance due, if you have not chosen to do so it in advance. I stay connected to you until you receive your final marriage certificate from the state within which you married, approximately 2 to 3 weeks following your wedding day.
